ASH Sends Letter to State Medicaid Directors on Medicaid Community Engagement Requirements

ASH sent a letter with recommendations to state Medicaid Directors on the implementation of the Medicaid community engagement requirements under Section 71119 of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. In the letter, the Society urged states to adopt a streamlined, diagnosis-based process for identifying individuals with serious hematologic conditions who may qualify for the medical frailty exclusion, including use of ICD-10-CM codes for complex hematologic conditions. 

ASH will continue to engage with states as they implement the Medicaid community engagement requirements, which must be in place by January 1, 2027.
